Reception counters, seating, storage facilities and private meeting internal walls and structures, all individually designed and made to order

Dewsbury Town Hall is a historic landmark yet provides a modern function in the administration of births, marriages and deaths for Kirklees Council. The local authority wanted to create a modern interior space that complemented the historic fabric of the building yet at the same time created areas of privacy and calm for staff and users often dealing with personal and sensitive family matters.

We worked closely with the client to design and develop fully bespoke fitted and free-standing items, including internal dividing walls and fixed seating. Clean flowing lines were employed on the reception counter designs, fitted adjacent to a booth seating plan which similarly employed curves to work with the arched windows behind. The seating was specifically designed to maximise the space potential whilst creating a feeling of privacy for the user. Individual meeting rooms with acoustic glass walls provide privacy but the arrangement, along with the use of transparent glass, reduces any feelings of being closed in.
