Brief:

The Registers of Scotland Flagship Office wanted an open-plan environment for 200 employees incorporating 170 positions of desking, meeting areas, board rooms and break-out areas.

Solution:

The client tendered through the CCS framework and out 5 suppliers quoting we were successful in winning the project.

The client enlisted Graven Images, a well-known design consultancy, to work closely with both them and Gresham.

We were asked to manufacture various items from our product portfolio, however there was a number of products that needed to be adapted to meet their requirements which we were happy to oblige in doing.  This gave our customer the most suitable options for their environment e.g Neo-Plus with a mobile base, specialised folding tables for meeting rooms.

Originally, 20 height adjustable desks were produced and installed but after an initial period the employees saw the benefit of being able to sit and stand at the desks that a further 20 more were ordered.

Our Bespoke Team were given the opportunity to design and create many different products with unique design features in order the fulfill the clients wish-list, including board room tables and break-out areas.

The project was a success and we developed a great relationship with Graven Images, so much so that we won a tender for a 2 year project to furnish and install the Meadowbank House Building in Edinburgh for Registers of Scotland where there are between 1,100-1,200 employees.

UPDATE:
Since completion, the project was nominated for the Fit Out of Workplace Award and it won in the Scotland Region category. The judging panel described the development as having delivered a digital, smart working office space with high levels of environmental performance. The clever design of workplace settings, along with carefully selected furniture, promotes a high degree of staff collaboration and interaction, in the judges’ view. The panel also noted that tactile and robust finishes have been used to ensure long term durability, while delivering a consistent finish throughout. The panel agreed that an awareness of health and wellbeing has been fully integrated within the fit-out, with features such as Circadian lighting control, incorporation of biophilia and SAD light therapy seating pods. All of these features help staff to stay healthy and productive throughout the working day, ensuring the project stands out amongst its peers.

Clients View:

“Over the project duration Gresham were very easy to work with, from interpreting our furniture needs to manufacture, delivery and install.  Having the services of a dedicated Project Manager made life a whole lot easier and Gresham were willing to the extra mile on numerous occasions.  The furniture that Gresham supplied was of high quality and brought the vision we had for our office to life.”
