Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) is a youth club and registered charity who recognise the importance of providing young people with a safe space to spend their free time. 7 days and nights a week, 51 weeks a year they reach over 3,000 individual children and young people from across all areas of Bolton, through centre-based play and youth work, sport provision, arts and music programmes, multi-media, and projects such as the National Citizens Service and Young Leaders programmes, which inspire and help to build confidence and resilience. BLGC also provide 1:1 support for children and families from Early Help to child protection and programmes that tackle employability, homelessness, and independent living for those 16 plus through psycho and social support.
Having supported BLGC for several years, in 2021 Gresham enhanced this commitment by becoming a Platinum Patron. Our continued support ensures BLGC can keep their doors open every night and provides a safe place for local young people to socialise, enjoy themselves and develop their skills. As a local employer many of our employees have utilised the BLGC facilities whilst growing up. We see first-hand the excellent work they do in Bolton and the surrounding areas.
The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside help save wildlife and wild places, increasing people’s awareness and understanding of the natural world, aiming to deepen their relationship with it. They have saved many special places, acquiring, and managing many of them as nature reserves. Currently they look after more than 42 nature reserves, covering 1,300 hectares, and operate more than 3 visitor and education centres.
Gresham is a proud supporter of The Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the work they do. We see the support of LWLT as being an extension of our environmental stewardship and commitments. Our annual donation ensures they can have a bigger impact on wildlife and wild places. From protecting threatened wildlife like bats, dormice, and bees to saving some of Lancashire’s last wild places and inspiring the next generation to love nature.
Derian House Children’s hospital supports children and young people, whose lives are too short, to make happy memories in an environment full of fun, respect, and exceptional care. Derian House offers palliative care, respite stays, holidays, and end of life support to families whose children have been diagnosed with a life limiting of life-threatening condition across Lancashire, South Cumbria, and Greater Manchester. This support also extends across the family to parents, sibling, and grandparents.
The care Derian House provide is free for families, but their help and support costs £5 million to run every year with only 12 per cent of funding they need coming from the government. Gresham is proud to support Derian House, contributing to the activities, projects and services that put smiles on these children’s faces and support their provision for the future.
